To repair your damaged hose

Cut off the damaged piece of hose.
Take the clamping nut off each end of the connector.
Then firmly push that end of hose into the middle of the hose fitting, as far as it will go, allowing the claws to clamp down onto the hose.
Hand tighten the clamping nut over the hose fitting.
Repeat this step on the other side to conclude joining 2 pieces of hose together.
